PROGRAMME FOR 2010

6th January   Chairman Jonathan Wilde leads a creative planning night for our next club project. Bring along your ideas for a group discussion to kickstart an 'Eastbourne Moviemakers winner'!

20th January  Hints, clips and anecdotes: an evening with Harry Lederman, longstanding club member.

3rd February  Understanding your computer, part 1: What's the difference between a jpeg and an mp4? How do you manipulate your data? Dave Diamond, our treasurer, will explain.

After tea, briefing and planning for practical filming evening.

17th February   Practical filming evening indoors. We'll set up an interview and a talk for you to video and edit together later.

3rd March   The basics: using your camcorder. Remember to bring your camcorder and manual if you have one, and discover functions you didn't know you had!

17th March   Holiday video competition hosted by the club secretary, Julia Galvin. Maybe you can use some of the skills you learned in the practical session to edit your holiday footage into a winner for tonight!

7th April  Progress report on the 2010 club project, with the club chairman, Jonathan Wilde. We will show rushes if available.

21st April  'My gear and how I use it': member Alan Tutt will demonstrate his approach to movie-making.

5th May  Understanding your computer, part 2:  more queries answered by club treasurer, Dave Diamond.

19th May   'From Tesco to bowed psaltery': a talk by club chairman, Jonathan Wilde.

2nd June  Bring your edited results of the indoor video session of February 17th to share with everyone.

16th June  One-minute-movie competition. This year the theme is 'The colour red'. You can make a mini-documentary, an animation, a slide show, an illustrated song or poem, or perhaps tell a story in moving images. Let your imagination soar!

After tea, preparation for the next session, outdoor video evening.

7th July   On location outdoor video evening. A chance for newcomers or the less experienced to choose a small crew and direct a session which they can then edit at home.

21st July   ''From Standard 8 to Bexhill on Sea' - a personal history, fifty years of film fun with John Pickett, committee member.

4th August   'Let's begin at the beginning' - round-table forum with hints, tips and suggestions, led by chairman Jonathan Wilde.

18th August   'Dance to our tune': a theme evening led by John Pickett. Bring a movie you have made to fit a piece of music - couldn't be easier, could it? The snag is - we choose the music! Ask a committee member for details.

1st September   Show-off night. Bring your best or favourite movie to share. One you have made, not a commmercial one, and please, not too long, in case we run out of time to show them all.

After tea: members' briefing and preparation for September 15th meeting.

15th September   Practical videoing: make a story video. Led by Jonathan Wilde. Cue camera, cue sound, and - ACTION!

DEADLINE: If you have an entry for the Annual Competition, you must let the Secretary know about it by tonight at the latest.

6th October   Annual Video Competition. You can enter one or two videos up to a total playing time of fifteen minutes to compete for the Chairman's Bowl.

20th October  Annual General Meeting.

3rd November   Results of On Location videoing from 7th July. Bring yours to show - there's always something to learn from seeing everybody's interpretation of the outdoor shoot.

17th November   Guest speaker to be confirmed.

1st december   Club Showreel from another club - more food for thought: come and see how others do it.

15th December   EMM Christmas Special. A bonanza for members and guests, with party food and another chance to see the competition winning videos from the past year.
